DAY 1: Exploring the Enchanting Route of Granada

Cycling Distance: 48 Km Ascent: 1.130 m Descent: 1.040 m Difficulty level: Moderate Our journey begins with a quest to unearth the secrets of cave dwellings in the heart of Granada. Upon your arrival, our transportation will whisk us away to the charming village of Dúdar nestled in the picturesque hills of Granada. To kickstart our adventure, our tour leader will provide you with an informative overview of the trip, followed by essential safety and bicycle technical instructions. With the briefings completed, you'll have the opportunity to acquaint yourself with your trusty bicycle and make any minor adjustments for a customized, comfortable ride. Our cycling expedition embarks on a classic route well-loved by local cyclists for their daily training. As we pedal through this rugged terrain, you'll find yourself surrounded by serene beauty and historical, cultural, and natural wonders. This route is a part of the Granada Geopark, designated a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2020. Our path will wind through several charming villages, leading us to the ancient city of Guadix. Here, you'll be captivated by a wealth of historic monuments, including the medieval Arab Citadel, the awe-inspiring Cathedral, and various Mudejar-style architectural gems. What truly sets Guadix apart is the fact that a significant portion of its inhabitants reside in unique cave houses. After a captivating visit to these cave dwellings, we'll continue our journey to our comfortable hotel, where you can unwind and prepare for the adventures that await. Accommodation: Tío Tobas. DAY 2: ALPUJARRA PUERTO DE LA RAGUA - CADIAR

Cycling Distance: 50 Km Ascent: 850 m Descent: 2.050 m Difficulty level: Moderate Prepare to be transported through time as we embark on a captivating journey through the Alpujarra region, a land of white mountain villages nestled snugly between the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada and the Mediterranean Sea. Here, time appears to stand still, preserving the rich history of the Moriscos from Granada and the remarkable harmony between humanity and nature, cultivated during the Moorish era of Al-Andalus. Our day commences with a scenic drive to the "Puerto de la Ragua," a breath-taking mountain pass situated at an elevation of 2,000 meters, marking the boundary between Granada and Almería provinces. Our route will lead us through charming villages offering awe-inspiring vistas of the valley and its terraced farms. As we traverse this magnificent terrain, we'll have the opportunity to pause and explore some of the rustic villages, each bearing a unique architectural imprint influenced by the Berber occupation. You'll encounter flat-roofed, box-shaped white houses adorned with tall, cylindrical chimneys, nestled along narrow, winding, and steep streets, seemingly clinging to the majestic slopes of the Sierra Nevada. Our day's adventure culminates as we arrive at our comfortable hotel, nestled in the vicinity of the picturesque village of Cádiar, perched beside the banks of the Guadalfeo River. Trevélez is celebrated for its traditional ham drying process, which has earned it a coveted Denomination of Origin status for its exceptional quality and rich flavor.
